This painting was started with the idea in mind to make it an underpainting for oils.
Worked on it to long for a mere underpainting
I liked the result so much that I gave up the idea of making it an oilpainting. An oilpaint version of this subject is under construction. (begin april 2010)

No not neccesary, hundreds of thousands have been crucified in history.
Jesus is the most prominent human that was crucified, but by no means the only one.
